Sixth Arrow Anti-Missile Test Successful
In a test to examine the Arrow missile's ability to intercept and destroy incoming missiles at high-altitudes, the missile system detected and hit a target missile in the sixth of a series of tests.
The development of the Israeli-US Arrow system gained strength after the 1991 Gulf War when Saddam Hussein fired 39 Scud missiles at Israel. The U.S. rushed Patriot Missiles to Israel to defend against Scud attacks but some say that the Patriots only made the situation worse, causing damage to Israel upon landing.
