Sha'arei Tikvah

SHA'AREI TIKVAH (Heb. שַׁצֲרֵי תִּקְוָה), urban community in Samaria. The town is located in western Samaria, on the western slopes of the Samarian mountains, northeast of Petaḥ Tikvah. It was established in 1983 and the first settlers arrived in 1985. The founders sought to create an urban community with a mixed religious and secular population. In 1990 Sha'arei Tivkah received municipal council status. In 2002 its population was 3,650. In the town's vicinity are remains from the Second Temple period.
