Lehavim

LEHAVIM (Heb. לְהָבִים), urban settlement in southern Israel. Lehavim is located on the southwestern slopes of the Judean Hills, in the northern Negev, 985 ft. (300 m.) above sea level and 9 mi. (15 km.) north of Beersheba. The settlement was founded by the Benei Shimon Regional Council and the Israel Land Authority as an upscale suburban setting within easy commuting distance from Beersheba. In 1989 Lehavim received municipal council status. In 2002 its population was 4,770, on a land area of 1 sq. mi. (2.5 sq. km.).
