Israel Successfully Tests Arrow 3
Though defense officials do not expect it to be operational until 2015, Israel successfully tested its Arrow 3 anti-missilie interception system. Developed by the state-run Israel Aerospace Industries, Arrow 3 is slated to be Israel's next-generation missile interceptor, built to collide "metal-to-metal" with long-range ballistic missiles before they re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. According to the diretor of the Defense Ministry's Homa project, Aryeh Herzog, the Arrow 3 interceptor missilie was launched against an incoming projectile and successfully destroyed it after a few hundred meters of flight.
