Ran Cohen

(1937 - )

Ran Cohen is an Israeli politician and former Knesset member.

Cohen was born 1937 in Iraq and immigrated to Israel in 1950. He served in the IDF as a colonel in paratroop artillery. He holds a B.A. in Economy & Philosophy from Tel Aviv University. From 1994 to 1998, Cohen served as Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Histadrut.

First elected as a Member of Knesset in 1984, Cohen represented the Ratz Party through 1992 before moving to represent Meretz from 1992 through 2009.

Cohen served as Minister of Industry and Trade from July 1999 until his resignation in June 2000.

Cohen is married and the father of four.
