Isidor Rabi
(1898 - 1988)
Isidor Rabi was born in 1898 in Rymanow, Austro-Hungary. A physicist, his many appointments included positions at Columbia University and the Massachusetts Technology, Brookhaven National Laboratory for Atomic Research, and the UN Science Committee. He was best known for breakthrough research on molecular beams, magnetism and quantum mechanics, and was awarded a Nobel Prize for Physics in 1944.
