Cal Abrams
(1924 - 1997)
Cal Abrams was a Jewish American major league baseball player.
Growing up in Brooklyn, he played for James Madison High School and was later recruited by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1942. After being drafted into the army during World War II and fighting in both Europe and the Pacific, he returned to baseball in 1946. After time in the minor leagues, he was called up to play for the Dodgers. He bounced around the majors, playing for the Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburg Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox and Brooklyn Dodgers. The most he ever made was 22,000 a year while with the Orioles.
In 1996, Abrams was inducted into the B'nai B'rith Jewish American Sports Hall of Fame, in Washington, D.C
