(April 2015)

Before World War II, Canadian William Bill Lowry was studying nursing at what is now known as Columbia Adventist University in Washington, DC. Before graduating he joined the U.S. Army in the medical corps, where he was attached to the 30th field hospital. Lowry took the following photos in May 1945, during the liberation of the Ebensee concentration camp in Austria. Following the war, he returned to the United States and enjoyed a successful career as a salesman for medical equipment and supplies.
