Inspection of Buchenwald by U.S. Officers
(April 16, 1945)
The attached report, “Inspection of German concentration camp for political prisoners located at Buckenwald [sic] on the north edge of Weimar made by Brig. Gen. Eric F. Wood, Lt. Col. Chas. H. Ott, and CWO. S.M. Dye, on the morning of 16th April 1945” was found in the files of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF). This report details the history of Buchenwald and the conditions the Allies found following its liberation.
