Report On Nazi Leaders Based on Goering Interrogation

(June 1, 1945)

A report was prepared by the U.S. Military Intelligence Service based on the interrogation of Hermann Goering by officers of the Air Prisoner of War Interrogation Detachment. The interrogation dealt with general and historical information, which shed light on the events that took place behind the scenes involving leaders of the Nazi hierarchy. It explains that one reason the regime did not run smoothly was Hitler’s interference in even the smallest technical decisions. “During the last two years when Goering’s star – to use, his own words – was descending,” the introduction states, “this interference assumed proportions which caused Goering to exclaim: ‘You had a great ally in your aerial warfare – the Führer.’”
