Prior to the July 2015 approval of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran (the Iran deal), emails from left-wing pro-Israel organization J Street to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta detailed the states that J Street was to focus it's pro-Iran deal efforts.

John, It was good to see you Friday, and I really appreciate your taking time to hear about J Street's recent growth and to talk about how we can best relate to and assist the campaign, in particular on issues related to Israel and the Middle East. At the meeting, you asked me to forward the list of target states for our Iran related campaign. They are in two tiers (our top priority states where we've already hired local public affairs firms and the second tier where we hope to have the resources for targeted local advocacy). *TARGET STATES:* *Tier 1 - (Firms & Validator Tours):* CO MA MD MI OR *Tier 2 (in order of priority):* PA NJ DE VA MO WV MN I'm happy to provide any further information on the reasoning behind our priorities or the work that we're planning to do.
