Stan Kasten

(1952 - )

Stan Kasten is a Jewish American executive and businessman and a current part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.

Kasten (born February 1, 1952) was born in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, and attended the Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore for high school, though he graduate from the Yeshiva University High School for Boys in 1969. He is a graduate of New York University and received his law degree from Columbia University

In 1979, Kasten became the youngest General Manager in the NBA when Ted Turner hired him for the Atlanta Hawks, a position he held until 1990. In 1986, Kasten was also hired as the President of the Atlanta Braves baseball team, a position he held until 2003. In 2006, he assumed the presidency of the Washington Nationals baseball team. He stepped down from this postion in September 2010.

In January 2012, Kasten joined Magic Johnson and a number of other investors in buying the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team for $2.15 billion. Once the sale closed, in April 2012, Kasten was named team president.

Stan Kasten is married to Helen Weisz, and has four children.
