Hirsch Berlinski

(1908 - 1944)

Hirsch Berlinski was an activist of the leftist “Po'alei Zion” party and one of the organizers of the Jewish Fighting Organization. During the Great Uprising he commanded a detachment of "Po'alei Zion" fighters in the main ghetto. On May 10, 1943, he escaped to the Aryan sector [of the Warsaw ghetto] through the sewage system and joined the Jewish Fighting Organization in the forests of Wyszkow. He participated in the Polish uprising and was killed on September 27, 1944. He was 48 years old when he died.
