Israel Political Parties: HaAm Itanu

HaAm Itanu is a political party formed by former Shas member Eli Yishai, following a personal disagreement between Yishai and Shas leader Aryeh Deri.  The party was established on December 15, 2014, and directly after the announcement Jewish Home member Yoni Chetboun announced his plans to join the HaAm Itanu Party.  Activists reportedly affiliated with the Shas party broke into the hall where Yishai was making his official announcement of the party, shouting that he was a traitor and getting into small scuffles with Yishai's supporters.

HaAm Itanu announced in early February 2015 that they will be running on a joint ticket for the 2015 elections, along with the far-right Otzma Yehudit Party.
