Reliant Mermaid X - August 17-21, 2009

Participating elements of the Israeli, Turkish, and United States Naval and Air Forces will conduct another Combined/Joint Search and Rescue exercise in the Turkish Search and Rescue area in the Eastern Mediterranean from August 17-21, 2009. The objective of the exercise is to practice search and rescue procedures through a cooperative effort so that elements of the three naval and air forces will be able to respond more efficiently and rapidly to potential maritime emergencies as well as to execute coordinated humanitarian activities. The exercise will be conducted by 8 ships, 4 helicopters and 3 search and rescue aircraft of all the three countries.
