Daniel Kurtzer

Daniel C. Kurtzer, a career
member of the Senior Foreign Service, was
sworn in as U.S.
Ambassador to Israel on
July 16, 2001, and served until September
2005. Immediately prior to that, he served
as U.S. Ambassador to Egypt.
Ambassador Kurtzer previously served as political
officer at the American Embassy in Cairo; as political officer at the
American Embassy in Tel Aviv; as Deputy Director of the Office of Egyptian
Affairs; as a speechwriter on the Policy Planning Staff; as Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs; and as Principal Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research.
Ambassador Kurtzer received a B.A. from Yeshiva University
in New York and his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
