List of Palestinian Prisoners Releasedin First Stage of "Shalit Exchange Deal"(October 18, 2011)List of 550 Prisoners Released in Second Stage - CLICK HEREWhat Would You Do? - CLICK HEREOn Saturday October 15, 2011, the Israel Prison Service published the names of 477 prisoners who will be released in the first stage of prisoner swap deal for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. The list contains the names of 450 male prisoners, including 280 inmates serving life sentences, and 27 female prisoners. The second stage of the deal will see an additional 550 prisoners chosen by Israel being released over the months following the initial swap. Every one of the 477 prisoners were successfully transferred out of Israel proper on the morning of October 18, 2011, after Gilad Shalit was safely returned to Israel. A total of 131 prisoners returned to their homes in Gaza; 54 returned to the West Bank or east Jerusalem; and 54 returned to the West Bank or east Jerusalem under security restrictions. A total of 204 prisoners were deported overseas; 17 were deported to Gaza for a period of three years and 144 were deported to Gaza permanently. Six of the prisoners are Arab-Israelis who returned to their homes in Israel. Twenty-six female prisoners returned to their homes in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, with the exception of two: Amna Muna who was deported to Gaza, and Ahlam Tamimi who was deported to Jordan.
