Israel Political Parties: Gesher

Established in 1996, Gesher (bridge) formed as a break-away from the Likud party. David Levy, Gesher's founder, was protesting the Natenyahu's refusal to integrate Sephardim into the upper echelon's of the Likud party. After weeks of negotiation, Gesher, along with Tzomet, joined the Likud "national camp" list for the 1996 elections.  Gesher ran as part of the One Israel ticket in the 1999 elections, but separated and has two seats in the 15th Knesset.
