Mark Efimovich Weinbaum

WEINBAUM, MARK EFIMOVICH (Veinbaum, 1890–1973), U.S. journalist. Born in Proskurov, Ukraine, Weinbaum went to the U.S. in 1913. He was associated with several Russian-language publications, joining the staff of Russkoye Slovo in 1914, and later founding his own journal Russkiy Golos (1917–20). In 1925 he became editor and co-owner of the influential Novoye Russkoye Slovo. From 1948 he was director and president of the Fund for the Relief of Russian Writers and Scientists in Exile.
