Intelligence Assessment of PLO Plan to Declare Independence

This State Department intelligence assessment examines the positions of Arab states with regard to the Palestinians' plan to declare the establishment of a Palestinian state at a meeting of the Palestine National Council. The report concludes most Arab states will announce their support. although Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia have reservations that such a state is workable, or desirable, they cannot afford to appear less than fully supportive of the Palestinian cause.
