Dachau Gallery of U.S. Liberator Jack Rosendale
(April 1945)
Jack Rosendale was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 30, 1942, and served with the 45th Infantry Division throughout World War II. His journey took him from basic training at Camp Croft to combat in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and eventually to France and Germany. In April 1945, Rosendale’s division arrived at the Dachau Concentration Camp, where they witnessed the horrific aftermath of Nazi atrocities. Photographs from this period, including images from Dachau and Munich, are featured in this gallery, providing a stark reminder of the devastation he encountered. His experiences, especially at Dachau, deeply affected him, and he later shared the emotional toll of those moments with family members.
