Robert "Bo" Belinsky

(1936 - 2001)

Robert "Bo" Belinsky was a Major League left-handed baseball pitcher who threw the first no-hitter in the history of the Los Angeles Angels, beating the Baltimore Orioles 2-0 on May 5, 1962. He had a career record of just 28-51, but was known as a playboy-athlete for his love of partying and womanizing. These negative behaviors combined with a growing alcoholism lead to the dissipation of his talent. He only played a few more major league seasons and was eventually sent to the minors. Later in life he became a “born-again” Christian and ultimately died of a heat attack at age 64.
