Request For Help For Jews in Theresienstadt

(August 19, 1944)

Letter from Herbert Luft to John Pehle, Executive Director of the War Refugee Board, asking if the United States can use the Red Cross to send elderly Jews who were transported to Theresienstadt, including his father to a neutral territory. Pehle tells him to file a petition with the Immigration and Naturalization Service for a visa. He says that the WRB can do nothing if he is not a U.S. citizen.
