Occidentalism: Travels and migration in Arabic literature.

Dr. Ariel Sheetrit, a lecturer in Arabic language and literature at Ben-Gurion University and in Arab film at the Open University, is the coordinator of the research group at the Van Leer Institute dedicated to the study of Arabic narratives of migration and journey. She analyzes with host Gilad Halpern how the East-West encounter was seen and construed in “Eastern” eyes, from as early as the 11th century.
