Omer Adam
(1993 - )
Omer Adam is a prominent Israeli singer known for his fusion of Mizrahi, Mediterranean, and Western pop styles. His distinctive musical approach and commanding stage presence have established him as one of contemporary Israeli music’s most successful and influential figures.
Adam was born on October 22, 1993, in North Carolina, United States, while his Israeli father worked there. When he was three, the family returned to Israel, settling in Mishmar HaShiv’a, a moshav in central Israel. His heritage reflects the diversity of Israeli society: his father, Yaniv Adam, is of Mountain Jewish (Caucasus) descent, while his mother, Sharon, is Ashkenazi. The musical influences of both traditions played a formative role in shaping his sound.
His rise to fame began in 2009 when, as a teenager, he auditioned for the Israeli reality singing competition Kokhav Nolad (A Star Is Born). Although he was disqualified for being under the age limit, his powerful performances made a lasting impression on the Israeli public and music producers alike.
Adam released his debut album, Melting Because of You, in 2010. His breakthrough came with subsequent albums, notably Good Boy Bad Boy, which included the hits “Baniti Alayich” and “Meusheret.” His 2017–2018 hit “Shnei Meshuga’im” (“Two Crazy People”) was the best-selling Israeli song during that period, surpassing even Eurovision entries in popularity.
Over the years, Adam has released at least six studio albums and two mini-albums. Noteworthy works include Ma Sheba’er (2009), Yesh Li Ahava (2012), Ani Rohelet (2015), Tik HaNeshama (2017), and Al Hakol Efshari (2019), all of which have been certified gold or platinum in Israel. His 2021 album The 8 set a national record when all eight songs simultaneously topped Israel’s Apple Music and Spotify charts.
Adam’s collaborations span the Israeli music scene, including popular artists such as Static & Ben El Tavori, Noa Kirel, and Yehuda Poliker. He frequently works with acclaimed producer Stav Beger, known for producing many of Israel’s most successful pop hits.
His musical style blends traditional Mizrahi motifs with contemporary pop, hip-hop, and electronic elements. Adam’s lyrics often explore themes of love, identity, and emotion. He is also a noted vinyl enthusiast, known for releasing many of his albums in that format and fostering a culture of analog music appreciation in Israel.
Despite his immense popularity, Adam rarely gives interviews. He has nevertheless remained a central figure in Israeli pop culture, selling out large venues and performing internationally. As of 2025, he continues to record and tour, including collaborations with global artists such as reggaeton star Nicky Jam and Chico Castillo of the Gipsy Kings.
Over a decade, Omer Adam’s blend of cultural heritage, commercial appeal, and artistic innovation has made him a defining voice in Israeli music.
