Meron Reuben
(1961 - )
Meron Reuben is an Israeli diplomat with a career spanning over three decades.
Reuben was born in South Africa in 1961 and immigrated to Israel from the United Kingdom in 1974. He pursued higher education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he studied Diplomacy and International Relations, earning both a B.A. and an M.A. During his IDF service, Reuben was an air traffic controller in the Israeli Air Force.
Reuben’s diplomatic career included roles at the Israeli embassies in Chile and Mexico. He served as Ambassador to Paraguay between 2000 and 2002, Bolivia between 2002 and 2004, and Colombia between 2007 and 2010. He later served as Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations between 2010 and 2011. He later served as Israel’s Chief of State Protocol between 2015 and 2020. In his most recent role, Reuben served as the Consul General of Israel to New England (2020-2024).
During his time as Consul General of Israel to New England, Reuben faced several challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Operation Guardian of the Walls, a rapid succession of Israeli elections, and a rise in anti-Semitic incidents, including after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks.
Reuben is passionate about diplomacy and its potential to foster connections between people.
Reuben is the father of Jen and Liad and is partnered with David.
