Lea Konig

KONIG, LEA, Israeli actress. Born in Poland, Konig moved to Romania after World War II. She studied acting at the Romanian Academy of Art in Bucharest and from the age of 17 appeared with the National Jewish Theater. After immigrating to Israel in 1961 she studied Hebrew and continued her acting career. In 1987 she was awarded the Israel Prize for theater, cinema, and television arts. In 1997 she was awarded the Rosenblum Prize for theater. She has appeared in more than 50 roles, ranging from the classical repertoire to the modern and has always maintained her connection to Yiddish theater. At an advanced age, she continued performing in various plays at the Habimah Theater.
