Morris Selig Kharasch

KHARASCH, MORRIS SELIG (1895–1957), organic chemist. Kharasch was born in Kremenets, Ukraine, and educated in the U.S. He was professor at the University of Maryland (1922–28) and at the University of Chicago from 1930; he was also a consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1926. His field of research included the electronic structure and physical properties of organic compounds, free radicals, chain reactions, hydro-peroxides, and ergot.
