Meldon Levine

(1943 - )

Meldon Edises Levine is a Jewish American politician and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Levin (born June 7, 1943) was born in Los Angeles, California, and graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1960. He recieved a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964, an M.P.A. from Princeton University in 1966 and his law degree from Harvard University in 1969.

From 1977 to 1982, Levine served on the California state assembly and as a delegate to the California State Democratic convention.

In November 1983, Levin was elected as a Democrat to represent California's 27th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected to his position four times, in 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1991.

In 1992, Levine entered the primary election for U.S. Senate but eventually lost the nomination to Barbara Boxer.

Levine is married to journalist Connie Bruck and has three children from a previous marriage. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
