Herbert Klein

(1930 - )

Herbert C. Klein is a Jewish American politician who formerly served in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Klein (born June 24, 1930) was born in Newark, New Jerseyand attended Rutgers University where he graduated with a B.A. in 1950. He earned his J.D. from the Harvard University School of Law in 1953 and an LL.M. degree from New York University in 1958. Klein served in the United States Air Force from 1954 through 1956.

After serving as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1972 to 1976 and as Executive Director of the Passaic County Democratic Committee from 1977 to 1981, Klein was elected as a Democrat to the Congress in 1992.

Klein was defeated for re-election by Bill Martini in the 1994 elections.
