Ibrahim Ghousheh

(1936 - )

Ibrahim Ghousheh is a Hamas leader and former spokeman of the terrorist organization.

Ghousheh was born in Jerusalem on 26 November 1936. He completed his secondary education at Rashidiya School of Jerusalem. Ghousheh joined the Islamic Movement in Jerusalem in 1950 and was an Islamic activist in the Palestinian Students League in Egypt. He graduated from the faculty of engineering at the University of Cairo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1961.

Ghousheh worked as an engineer in the Jordan Valley in 1961/1962 and he worked in Kuwait Municipality between 1962 and 1966. He returned to Jordan to work on the Khalid Dam project of the Yarmuk River between 1966 and 1971. He left to Kuwait for a second time and worked on Kuwait Towers Project for one year (1971/1972). He worked as manager of King Talal's Dam in Jordan from 1972 to 1978 and worked in his own engineering office from 1978 to 1989. He than went to work for Hamas in 1989 and has served as the spokesperson for Hamas since 1992.
