Mordechai Raanan

(1922 - ?)

Born in 1922 in Kovno, Lithuania, and was brought to Eretz Israel by his parents at the age of six months.

In 1938 he joined the Irgun in Petah Tikva and fulfilled various positions.

During the "Hunting Season," he was kidnapped by the Haganah and released several weeks later.

In 1946, he was transferred to Jerusalem. After the arrest of Yitzhak Avinoam in 1947, he was appointed District Commander, a position he held during the siege of Jerusalem in the War of Independence.

After the war he established the Israel Printing Press, and the Nativ publishing house.
