Menachem "Meni" Mazuz

(1955 - )

Menachem "Meni"Mazuz is an Israeli politican and jurist who served as Israeli Attorney General.

Mazuz (born April 30, 1955) was born in Djerba, Tunisia, one of nine brothers and sisters. The family immigrated to Israel and settled in Netivot, a development town in the Negev.

After completing his high school studies in Jerusalem, Mazuz served in the IDF Armored Corps. He completed his law studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in public and administrative law.

Mazuz worked for several years in the State Attorney's Office department dealing with petitions to the High Court of Justice. From 1991 until 1995 he coordinated the legal aspects of Israel's negotiations with Jordan and the Palestinians.

In January 2004, Menahem Mazuz was appointed Attorney General, a position he held until 2010.

Mazuz is married and a father of two.
