Nissim Dahan

Nissim Dahan is an Israeli politician who served as Minister of Health in the Israeli cabinet.

Dahan (born May 7, 1954) was born in Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1955. He studied at the Porat Yossef Talmudic College.

Dahan was a member of committee for the establishment of Ganei Modi'in; served as director of the Organizations and Institutions Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; and for three years was a member of the Jerusalem Development Authority.

In 1996, Dahan was first elected to Knesset on the Shas Party ticket. He served on the Finance, Economics, and Foreign Affairs & Defense Committees. From August 1999 until July 2000, Dahan served as Deputy Minister of Finance. In March 2001, Dahan was appointed Minister of Health, a position he held until 2003.  Following the 2003 elections, Dahan was appointed as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, but he lost his position after Shas withdrew from the coalition that year.

Dahan lost his seat in the Knesset in the 2006 elections.

He is married with nine children.
