Shaul Amor

(1940 - 2004)

Shaul Amor was an Israeli politician who served in the Israeli Cabinet.

Amor (born December 24, 1940; died October 2, 2004) was born in Morocco in 1940 and immigrated to Israel in 1956.

A social worker by profession, he completed his education at the Social Work Institute in Haifa and later served as Mayor of the town of Migdal HaEmek.

In 1988, Amor was first elected to Knesset for the Likud Party. He was reelected in 1992 and 1996, during which time he served as a member on the Finance Committee, Labour & Social Welfare Committee, Anti-Drug Abuse Committee, State Control Committee and Education & Culture Committee.

In January 1999, Amor was appointed Minister without Portfolio, however he lost his seat in the Knesset in the November 1999 elections.

Amor died on October 2, 2004, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife and three children.
