House Passes FY 2000
Foreign Aid Appropriations
(October 5, 1999)
The legislation includes nearly $3 billion in
economic and military assistance to Israel, but it does not include
funding requested by the Clinton administration to help Israel and
the Palestinians implement the Wye
accord. The bill narrowly passed
the Senate, 51-49, on October 6. The Clinton
administration has promised to veto the measure.
