Aerospatiale SA 342M Gazelle

The Gazelle was jointly developed by Britain and France, the first example having flown on April 7, 1967. It was never purchased by the IAF, but 14 examples belonging to the Syrian Air Force were shot down and captured over Lebanon in 1982. One example was restored to flying condition by the IAF and was handed over to an Israeli civilian company already operating a number of helicopters of the same type. Today it resides in the IAF Museum in Hatzerim, bearing its original Syrian markings along newer Israeli ones.
