Jews in Sports: Israel at the 2004 Olympics

At the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, 36 Israeli athletes competed in 13 different sports. It was Israel's 13th time sending a delegation to the Summer Games. Gal Friedman, a windsurfer, won Israel its first ever gold medal. Judoka Ariel Ze'evi also won a bronze medal.
