Ina Gilbert

(1932- )

GILBERT, INA (1932– ), Canadian painter and president of the Society of Canadian Artists. Born into a family of painters in Toronto, Gilbert graduated in political science and economics. Later she took up interior design, began painting at night, and studied techniques of etching. Her works display a bold sense of color and a quality of whimsy. They are executed in acrylic paint on canvas or on sheets of plexiglass where she creates an appearance of depth by using two or three superimposed sheets.
