UK Recognizes Israel and Jordanian Occupation of Palestine

(April 27, 1950)

During a debate in the House of Commons, the Minister of State relates that the government decided to grant de jure recogntion to the State of Israel and to recognize the union  of the Kingdom of Jordan and the part of Palestine under Jordanian occupation. The government, however, did not recognize either country’s sovereignty over the areas of Jerusalem under their control.
