About the Author

Barbara Swirski is an American-born Israeli (Milwaukee), director of the Adva Center for the Study of Israeli Society. A sociologist, she has written on health issues, on women in Israel and on the Israel State Budget.

She was assisted by Lisa Gold, a graduate of the Hebrew University School of Public Health (MPH) currently working at the Israel Ministry of Health and at the Israel Association for the Advancement of Women's Health.
