U.S.-Israel Legal Cooperation Treaty

The United States and Israel signed a bilateral treaty on legal assistance in criminal affairs at the end of January. The treaty is aimed at strengthening ties with regard to investigations, indictments and crime prevention through the cooperation of the legal authorities in both countries. The treaty must now be ratified by the U.S. Senate (Jerusalem Post, Feb. 7, 1998).
