Azzam Shawwa

(1963 - )

Born in Kuwait in 1963, Mr. Shawwa is married with three children.

B.Sc. in Mathematics, University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA

Mr. Shawwa is the Gaza Branch Coordinator of the Arab Bank. For many years, Mr. Al Shawa worked as the Director of Foreign Relations for the Bank of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, where he later became the youngest person to ever serve as the head of the Bank. He is the Treasurer of the Palestine Investment Fund; the Secretary-General of the Palestine Banking Association; a member of the Palestine Food Industries Company and a member of the Palestine National House of Books.

He is extensively involved in community work, serving as the President of the Gaza Sporting Club; President of Atfaluna – Society for Deaf Children in Gaza and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish-Palestinian Training Institute.

In 2003, he was nominated as the Minister of Energy for the new Palestinian Authority Cabinet. He is a member of Fatah.
