Paul Mazursky

(1930-2014)

Paul Mazursky, born Irwin Mazursky, was a Jewish filmmaker and actor who grew up in Brooklyn. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 1951 and was married to Betsy Pazursky from 1953 until his death.

Mazursky started his career as an actor in various television programs such as "The Twilight Zone" and "The Rifleman." He also acted in the movies "Fear and Desire" by Stanely Kubrick and "The Blackboard Jungle." His most famous work, however, was directing and written movies about the careless era of the '60s and '70s; movies such as "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," "An Unmarried Woman," and "Harry and Tonto." He also adapted the Isaac Bashevis Singer novel "Enemies, a Love Story."
