LEVITAS, Elliott Harris, a Representative from Georgia; born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Ga., December 26, 1930; attended the public schools of Atlanta; B.A., Emory University, 1952; J.D., Emory Law School, 1956; Rhodes scholar, receiving masters of law degree from Oxford University, England, 1958; additional study in law, University of Michigan, 1954-1955; admitted to the Georgia bar in 1955 and commenced practice in Atlanta; served in United States Air Force, 1955-1958; served in Georgia house of representatives, 1965-1974; delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1964; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1985); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-ninth Congress; is a resident of Atlanta, Ga.
