Mitri Abu Aita

(1941 - )

Born in 1941 in Bethlehem, Mr. Abu Aita is married.

Elected in 1996 to the PLC, Mr. Abu Aita served as the Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Leglislative Council (PLC) from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, he served as the Minister of Tourism and was later appointed as the Minister of Transportation in June 2002. In 2003, he was nominated as the Minister of Tourism for the new Palestinian Authority Cabinet. He is a member of Fatah.

An active lawyer, Mr. Abu Aita served as the Chairman of the Jordan Bar Association from 1994 to 1998 and was involved in the hotel and tourist industry for more than 20 years.

Mr. Abu Aita holds a B.A. in Law (Damascus University).
