Meshulam Nahari is an Israeli politician and a minister in the Cabinet.
Nahari (born May 7, 1951) was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He was ordained as a rabbi at Yeshivat Hebron and holds a B.A.
from the Lifschitz Teacher's College.
Nahari was first elected to the Knesset in 1999 with the Shas Party and served as Deputy Minister of Education from August 1999
until July 2000. He has also served on the Knesset, State Control, Constitution,
Law and Justice, and Education and Culture Committees.
In March 2001, Nahari was reappointed Deputy Minister of Education. In May 2006, Nahari was appointed Minister
without Portfolio by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and in 2006 he was given a position in the Finance Ministry with responsibilities for education and welfare. Nahari retained his seat in the Knesset in the 2009 elections, despite falling lower on the Shas list, and kept his Cabinet post as well.
He is married and has five children.
