Mark Mendelblatt

(1973 - )

Mark Mendelblatt was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, on February 19, 1973. He began taking classes at the St. Petersburg Sailing Center when he was six years old and got involved in competitive sailing at age 10.

He was a three-time college All-American in sailing and was named Tufts University Athlete of the Year in 1993 and 1994.

After winning at the Rolex Miami OCR, the Laser Pacific Coast and the Gulf Coast Championships, Mendelblatt was named U.S. Sailing's 2003 USOC Male Athlete of the Year. Mendelblatt also won the 2001 Laser North American Championships and owns a silver medal from the 1999 Pan American Games.

In 2003, Mendelblatt finished sixth in the world championship. In May 2004, he won a silver medal at the Laser World Championships.

He will compete in the “Laser class” at the Athens Games.
