Israel Guttman

Israel Guttman was an activist of Ha'Shomer Ha'Tsair. He was captured in the bunker at 30 Franczeskanska Street in the Warsaw Ghetto and was sent to Majdanek and Auschwitz. He joined the undergound in Auschwitz and helped smuggle in explosives that were used to blow up one of the gas chambers. He immigrated to Israel after the war. He is one of the most prominent historians of the Holocaust and Warsaw Jews.
