ERDREICH, Ben, a Representative from Alabama; born in Birmingham, Ala., December 9, 1938; attended Jefferson County public schools; B.A., Yale University, 1960; J.D., University of Alabama School of Law, 1963; editor-in-chief, Alabama Law Review; United States Army active duty service as first lieutenant, 1963-1965; admitted to Alabama bar, 1963; practiced law in Birmingham for eight years; elected to Alabama house of representatives, 1970; elected as one of the three Jefferson County commissioners, 1974, and reelected in 1978; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress; is a resident of Birmingham, Ala.
